Rio Salado College
Rio Salado College, at their Surprise location, makes available a “College Bridge Pathways” program. This approach allows students to improve their skills in English or complete their GED. The goal is for the students to improve their job skills or move onto high education classes.
The AAUW College Connection Team hosted a Valentines Celebration for the students at Rio Salado College. The speakers included both the Rio Salado College Past President, Dr. Linda Thor, and the current Interim President, Kate Smith. The staff from the YWCA Metro Phoenix were also in attendance. Refreshments and door prizes, including GED test vouchers, were made available to the students.
Estrella Mountain Community College
The College Connection Team is looking forward to working in support of the Women Rising Chapter at Estella Mountain Community College. The Chapter Advisors are Melissa Silvas and Regina Garcia. AAUW can offer programs that deal with pay equity, diversity, leadership development, college debt and Title IX.

The beautiful campus of Estrella Mountain Community College is located in Avondale, Arizona. It is the newest of the Maricopa Community Colleges and the home of the Lions. The Northwest Valley College Connection Team has invited the members of the AAUW West Valley Branch to join in support of the Women Rising Chapter on campus. Dr. Rey Rivera is the College President at Estrella Mountain Community College.
Ottawa University/Surprise (OUAZ) is a private, Christian, four- year university located in Surprise, Arizona. In the past 3 years they have added a student dorm, an athletic facility, a football field and a student union/dining hall.
Over the summer OUAZ held a virtual installation of new members into Kappa Delta Pi, the international honor society for Education. The AAUW College Connection Team purchased books as gifts for the new officers. Student, Rachael Berg, conducted the ceremony. She will be student teaching this semester. The gifts will be mailed by Professor Lisa Bucigrosse.
Ottawa University wished their graduates Congratulations as they headed off to fulfill their career dreams. Everything was ready for the New Student Orientation including gift bags. Campus mascot, FANG (with a mask) helps students move into the new four-story dorm. Dr. Dennis J. Tyner, President, welcomes the Freshman and their parents to campus. Classes, both online and in-person have started and everyone needs to wear a mask!

Glendale Community College
The College Connection Team have been partners with Glendale Community College for five years. The college opened in 1965 to provide high quality, innovative, and accredited educational opportunities for students in the West Valley. The home of the Gauchos, the campus has a student enrollment of over 20,000. Many of their students receive scholarships and well-deserved awards. Glendale Community College is also known for its over $200,000 economic impact on the West Valley.

Over the years the College Connection Team has supported the students at Glendale Community College by the following activities: greeting students at their Club Fair; attending Women Rising meetings; providing AAUW published research materials; assisting with a Pay Equity events; helping with scholarships applications; collecting food and clothing for the students; and offering academic and NCCWSL scholarships.
